Congratulations and Welcome to the family of God! Jesus Christ is now Lord of your life. This may be a confusing phrase for new believers. I would like to explain it to you. When Jesus is Lord of your life it means that “He is the boss.” It means that you now choose to follow Him. It will be difficult and at times choosing to do what He says in the Bible over what the world says will not be easy. You may not always make the right decision, but remember, walking with Jesus Christ is a process. Remember, there is forgiveness when we mess up and strength for those tough decisions. You will never be alone again. Just don't forget , seeking God and His Kingdom is a life style, not a one time act. Christ is a very real person that cares for you and loves you. Seek to follow Him and He will meet your greatest needs and desires.

 

Here are some steps for growing in your relationship with Christ. Jesus does not want you to be the same as you were before you met Him and the easiest way to explain it is to look at His example in the Bible and try to follow it as closely as we can. 

 

Begin Reading the Bible. 

 

Just like your relationships with your family and friends, you must get to know them to be close to them. Daily time spent praying and reading the Bible will help you get to know who Jesus is, and how much God loves you. The New Testament book of St John is a good place to start. It is recommended that you download the “You Version” Bible App on your smart phone it is free and provides resources for studying the Bible.

Find Christian Fellowship in a local church

 

It is extremely important to find friends in the body of Christ who can support and encourage you as you grow. Just like it was mentioned above this will not always be easy and having a Church family that you can turn to for advice and help is extremely important. But how do you pick a good church? 

 

When picking a church, look for what the church believes about Jesus Christ. They must believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, born of a virgin, and that he physically died and rose from the dead and returned to heaven and will come again.

Become Baptized. 

 

There is a lot of controversy in the phrase baptism, but simply put baptism is a physical showing of an outward change. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Mt 28:19).
